We have a Meltdown

Kurt, Aunt Elaine, Sarah Beth and I had a fun-filled day yesterday of flu shots, baby clothes shopping and major baby breakdown at Target.  Poor baby was so sleepy but refused to close her eyes.  We had to wait 20 minutes for flu shots so we did a little shopping...believe it or not of all the wonderful baby clothes we've received, we don't have much in the way of cooler weather clothes.
SB started getting restless after a few minutes in the baby dept. and we still had 10 minutes to kill.  Kurt conveniently (hmmmm) had to go back to work so he wished us luck and off we girls went to do some laps in the stroller.  Unfortunately it's hard to pick up enough speed to soothe baby whilst dodging shopping carts and elderly people wandering about the aisles. We made it to the back of the store by the halloween costumes (there's that hot dog costume again...so tempting!) when Sarah Beth made it known to one and all that she was done with her Target shopping experience.  She was doing that super sad crying thing where she gasps for air and puffs her cheeks out and looks at you with big tears in her eyes as if to say "don't you love me anymore Mommy?" Rip my heart out, throw it on the floor and run over it with a Target shopping cart, why don't you, baby?  After all, we are getting flu shots just for her.  She didn't really care about our motivation, however.  So Mommy pulled her out of the stroller and she was instantly quiet except for a few horribly pathetic shaky deep breaths.  We managed to get our shots and get her back in the car, which of course started her crying again, but she then fell asleep as soon as we got out of the parking deck.  Now why couldn't she have done that in the store?  It would have made it a much more pleasant shopping excursion for everyone.  One thing I have learned in my almost 3 months of mommyhood is that you can't reason with a baby.  I know this.  However I find myself doing it ALL the time. "Baby you're tired, if you fall asleep you'll be happier when you wake up."  "Baby if you will just sit tight in your swing for a few minutes I can get your laundry done for you."  "Baby if you stop kicking your legs like a Solid Gold dancer I'll be able to get this diaper on and then I can feed you."  She just laughs at that last one.  Silly Mommy.
This weekend Kurt has planned a family adventure to a few state parks we've never been to.  The weather is supposed to be perfect this weekend.  Hopefully SB will be up for it.  Stay tuned for photos from our road trip.
Here are a few shots of Daddy and Daughter doing their favorite thing: watching TV.  Don't worry, I already ordered the "Classical Baby" DVDs so she doesn't have to sit through another episode of "Real Housewives of Atlanta" or watch Bear Gryllis kill another cute fluffy animal with his teeth.
