Sarah Beth laughed! A real honest-to-goodness laugh. Big open mouth, gum-revealing smile that gave way to the cutest sound I have ever heard - our baby's first laugh. I laughed, I almost cried, I fell more in love than ever. I will do anything to make that baby do it again and again. Daddy and I were sitting on the couch having lunch. I just finished feeding her and she looked up at me with her face all lit up and laughed like Mommy was the funniest thing she ever saw. I'm so happy we were both there to hear those sweet sounds. Daddy grabbed the video camera but of course it was too late; the show was over. We'll be ready next time!
She is turning into a little person now. It's amazing to watch. She doesn't want to be cradled much anymore; she'd much rather sit upright and see the world. It's so funny to watch her notice things like overhead lights and the TV and the dogs. Moose is hell bent on licking her feet on a daily basis. He's annoyed I started putting socks on her. Sarah Beth's not sure what to make of him. He gets very protective whenever anyone other than Mommy has the baby and will follow said person around the house to make sure they don't run off with our precious girl. He's such a loyal and trusty companion.
The other day I got the Classical Baby DVDs in the mail and they are wonderful! Click the link for a sample on you tube: Classical Baby Link. Sarah Beth seems quite interested and the music and animation is lovely. Thanks Clay and Linda for the recommendation. They are far superior to that Baby Einstein crap. They don't bastardize the music with toy instruments or use creepy sock puppets. I personally find them very relaxing. Not to mention more appropriate for our young viewer than Maury or The View.
In other exciting news...she ate 2 whole ounces from her bottle for Aunt Elaine today! Yay baby! I knew she could do it. There is a chance I may not have to smuggle her into work with me after all. Who am I kidding, I wouldn't subject her to one minute in a cubicle. That's simply inhumane. If nothing else (well other than making sure she doesn't become a stripper or something), I aspire for my child to not have to work in a cube farm when she grows up. We may be a rare breed of parent that would prefer our child to be an artist or in a band instead of having a "real" job, but she is far too special to ever stagnate under the mind-numbing florescent lights of an office building like her poor parents do. Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful for our jobs; in the grand scheme of things we are very fortunate to have them, especially in this economy. There are some bright moments from time to time, but c'mon, who ever dreamed of working in a cubicle when they grew up? Anyone? Anyone?

STOP reading my mind.... i want so much more for Avery and I don't mean money. I want him to be HAPPY. I too am thankful for my paycheck, but I don't do ANYTHING USEFUL or SPECIAL. i just have a job. again, yeah job, economy sucks, but really it is just a JOB.
First the smile, that beautiful smile, and now THE LAUGH. Sounds good enough to be a movie.
I shall call on the best show of all time to help with the laughing... Remember what worked when Ross & Rachel tried to get Emma to laugh? That's right, you know it, Baby Got Back! TRY IT! Hahahhaa...
