Take last week, for example. Poor baby was having a tough time sleeping through the night. Up every hour, at least. Which means Mommy was also up every hour, with Daddy not too far behind. Even when she sleeps for a little while, I can't follow suit because I'm laying there waiting for her to wake up crying. Try functioning at work when you were up 'til 6am. Every morning before work, I make baby's bottles for the day, but that day I completely forgot and nanny texted me around 10am asking how to make the bottle. I almost had a meltdown in the middle of a meeting because I felt like the worst mother ever. Leaving my poor baby with no food. It was no big deal of course but to sleep-deprived me it was the end of the world and I wanted to tell those folks bickering about merger integration to go jump in a lake. God help anyone who crossed my path at work that day. I was taking no prisoners.
By the way, that 6am morning was the last straw for us. I put her in the crib and she cried and cried. Finally, I had to surrender, flopping on the bed listening to her for what seemed like forever (10 minutes.) And then.....she fell asleep. Sound asleep. Kurt and I looked at each other and said "Eureka! I think we need to let her cry for a few minutes and she'll be out like a light." Sure enough, ever since then, we've put her down, let her cry a little, and poof! baby sleeps like a champ all night long. Oh, and we changed up a few other things too. (1) We keep the room dark. We used to put her to sleep with a lamp on but I believe the dark room calms her down. (2) We are feeding her more. I don't know if we were starving her or what but we've upped her food intake rather significantly and she is a wildly happy, content baby these days. Don't worry, we're not feeding her Big Macs. Her fast food is defrosted homemade baby food - 40 seconds in the microwave. Man, do we we love that babyfood maker. I made applesauce the other day and it was delicious! Never again will I buy applesauce in a jar. The fresh stuff is fantastic and no weird preservatives. I know that organic Gerber baby food is supposed to be all natural but somebody explain how it can sit on a shelf for 6 months or longer and still be edible while the fresh stuff we make only stays good in the refrigerator for a few days? Very suspicious.
Speaking of Organic, check out this precious onesie that the New Orleans Fagans sent for Christmas.
Goes very nicely with her sassy brown leggings with the pink and orange polka-dots.
This is the look she gave me right before she spit up on said onesie.
This weekend has been a nice one so far. We had a spur of the moment visit from Grandma and Grandpa Fagan. They came down for the day to show off their sporty new SUV and get their monthly baby fix. Sarah Beth did not disappoint. She laughed, she smiled, she danced, she ate applesauce for Grandma, it was totally worth the 4 hour round trip, I'm sure. Who am I kidding, Grandma would crawl through broken glass in a minefield to spend a few moments with our precious girl. That's how Grandmas roll.
Next week is a monumental one. Kurt is turning the big 4-0. Can you believe it? I don't think he looks a day over 35. I remember when I first met him in 2005, I had him pegged for 27 or 28 but was really hoping he was older than I was. I couldn't believe he had 3+ years on me. Still pretty darn handsome for an almost forty year old if you ask me.

Grandpa and Grandma agree it was
totally worth the 4 hour round trip. Sarah Beth is a joy and her parents aren't too bad either.
Love ya!
I must admit that Kurt is very handsome....must take after his Dad.....LOL
We drove by your house (um, 4 times in an hour due to 2 trips to Home Depot) and I saw the new car and thought it might be your mom's. :) Hi, Beth!
