Oh dear God we have to go back to work tomorrow. 16 days of freedom and now it's back to the coal mines. Time flies when you're having fun. Kurt was off all week too so we snuck in a little romance during our vacation -- a couples massage, dinner out one evening -- we even went for a walk in the woods one day up at Reedy Creek park. Still, the best times were at home, cooking dinner, having a glass of wine and hanging out with baby. Speaking of dinner and baby, Sarah Beth has added quite a few foods to her culinary repetoire. To date, we have explored Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Strained Peas, Applesauce, Pears, and Bananas. Carrots are still #1 but Bananas are a close second. As her diet has expanded, her digestive system has also, um, changed. I won't gross you out with the details but lets say her diaper contents were overflowing this morning. We had to hose her down in the kitchen sink with the vegetable sprayer before plopping her in the bathtub. Wow. Whoever said stuff like that isn't disgusting because it's your baby is full of crap (pardon the pun.) Poop is icky, period.
On to more pleasant subjects. SB has been experimenting with her new toys. We noticed they are all noisy. Very noisy. Thanks Santa. With all the flashy vegas-style playthings, however, she gets most excited over the LCD display on the thermostat. Every time we pass it by in the hallway she goes "Ooooo ooooo oooo" like it's the best thing ever. Go figure. Also this week, we tried some children's programming on TV. Some of it is pretty cute. We love "Wonder Pets" and "Miss Spider" and "Olivia" -- the animated stuff is really neat. It's the real-live people that creep me out a little. I'm sorry, I know "Yo Gabba Gabba" is super popular or whatever, but I would not let that guy with the fuzzy flower pot hat within 50 yards of my baby. And why do they have to yell all the time? I'll delve into the psychology of kid's show actors in a future post, but for now I have to get ready fo w-o-r-k tomorrow. Baby has been teething so sleeping through the night is a thing of the past for now. She's been waking up almost every hour or two. We are exhausted and feel terrible for baby. I'm hoping it will improve soon but I fear tomorrow morning will be rough. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Olivia is great!! The Wonder Pets were cute at first but that animal with the lisp really drove me crazy after a while! (I am sorry if that is insensitive!) :)
